Plan International is a global organization focused on advancing children's rights and gender equality. It works closely with young people and communities, addressing discrimination against girls and empowering them to face challenges. One of the projects that Plan International currently supports is "The Dinner Ladies of Kilfi County".

As a devastating hunger crisis sweeps Kenya, a group of local mothers has stepped in as dinner ladies to ensure that children get hot meals, and therefore keep coming to class. Ingredients and other necessities for the lunches are provided by Plan International.

As a result, the organization has been able to support 47 schools, feeding over 20,000 children. Program manager Winfred Mukonza says free school meals are "one of the effective ways of keeping girls in school".
