Let’s get everyone excited about IBM Z! One of your most important roles as an IBM Z Student Ambassador is helping others learn about IBM Z Xplore platform. Once they sign up, they are exposed to many career advancing opportunities. Doesn’t that sound like a fantastic benefit to share with your peers? Our collective goal this year is to reach 5000 sign ups, which means your role as an Ambassador is to sign up 50 people from your campus. We’re all in this together! So let’s have some fun with it.

What is IBM Z Xplore and why is it so important?
IBM Z Xplore gives you the foundational knowledge to understand and discuss mainframe technology, an advantage when talking to potential employers.
It introduces IBM Z skills through videos, quizzes, and hands-on exercises, while connecting you to a community where you can ask questions and share insights.
You can apply what you learn through career fairs, webinars, IBM Z events, and more, helping you discover technical paths that fit your interests for example, becoming a RACF administrator if you prefer security over programming.
The platform supports ongoing learning with new challenges added year-round and past challenges available for review. You can also explore both open source and legacy technologies used by real clients all at no cost.

How do I sign students up to Z Xplore?
Step 1: Share the REFERRAL LINK with Students
Explain to students, register on IBM Z Xplore via this link: http://ibm.biz/refer-zxp
Once you are registered, they click ‘Ambassador Referral’ at the top of the screen
Type in ‘ambassador name’ and select it in the dropdown menu
Click “save”.
That’s it! Students can verify which ambassador referred them by going to “My profile” and then “edit public profile” and scroll down.

Step 2: Track your progress
Once a month, the Your Big Year team will send you an updated count of your sign ups based on reports we receive from IBM.
3 Effective Ways to Get Sign Ups
1. Share with Club Members
If you’re part of any mainframe, tech, or even general clubs, take 5 minutes at the beginning or end of a meeting to explain the benefits of IBM Z Xplore.
Offer to guide interested members through the quick sign up process.
2. Talk to a Professor
Ask a professor who teaches computer science, data analytics, or IT-related courses if you can speak to the class for a few minutes about IBM Z Xplore.
Highlight the platform’s practical learning experiences and recognized badges that students can add to their resumes.
See if the professor would be willing to send an announcement or email to students with the sign up link!
3. Post in Student Groups
Share a quick post in your class group chats, discord, or groupme.
