Your Big Year 2012 Launched

Mercedes

September saw the official launch of Your Big Year 2012, bringing together enterprising people and VIP's on the Mercedes tall ship on Liverpool's famous waterfront. The event was designed to start building the excitement and share with dignitaries, press and media plans for the upcoming competition and eventual finalists. There is now just 6 months until 12 of you will join us in the YBY final. That final is threaded through next years Global Entrepreneurship Congress that just happens to be hosted by the amazing city of Liverpool! Thanks to Liverpool Vision and the Kauffman Foundation, the city of Liverpool has a lot to look forward to next March and the vibe at the Your Big Launch reflected that.

The ‘Mercedes’ Tall Ship was moored at the Liverpool Pier Head for the “Festival of Tall Ships”. Mercedes was inaugurated in 2005 and her Captain, Oliver Wipperfürth, helped welcome guests. The trading area of the Mercedes extends from the whole Mediterranean along the Atlantic coast up into the North Sea and the full Baltic Sea. The Mercedes is present at nearly all major maritime festivals in Europe. Take a look at our ship launch (pun intended) at www.windisourfriend.com

Chris Arnold, CEO and Founder of Smaller Earth and of Your Big Year shared a speaking platform with Max Steinberg OBE, CEO of Liverpool Vision. Max was there to talk about the Global Entrepreneurship Congress that the Your Big Year final will be threaded through. March 2012, Liverpool will proudly host the World’s most prestigious event for entrepreneurs, The Global Entrepreneurship Congress. It will be a premier gathering of many of the most important thought-leaders from over 100 countries, committed to influencing entrepreneurial activity throughout their own countries. The Congress will open at the ACC Liverpool with a ‘Festival of Entrepreneurship’. With high profile key-note speakers, up to 3,000 delegates, a full Congress programme and around 25 fringe events, it will inspire and motivate the local, national and international participants. The event will be a major focal point for the media and an opportunity for us to build on the existing entrepreneurial spirit in the city, creating a legacy that we truly believe will encourage economic growth in the region.
